Cardi B Seeks Primary Custody of Children Amid Ongoing Divorce Proceedings

NEW YORK — Cardi B is pursuing primary custody of her children with rapper Offset, including their unborn baby, according to recent court documents from the couple’s ongoing divorce case.

The Grammy-winning artist, known for her chart-topping hits and dynamic stage presence, has also requested child support from Offset, who is recognized for his solo career and his role in the popular trap group Migos. The details of Cardi B’s legal petitions emerged from documents filed on Thursday in New Jersey Superior Court in Bergen County, with the information being made public on Friday.

The couple, who have been married since September 20, 2017, have two children: six-year-old daughter Kulture and two-year-old son Wave. Cardi B recently announced her pregnancy with their third child in an Instagram post on Thursday. The court filings confirm that Offset is the father of all three children.

According to the court documents, Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar, and Offset, born Kiari Cephus, have faced “irreconcilable differences” over the past six months, leading to the conclusion that “there is no reasonable prospect of reconciliation between the parties.”

A spokesperson for Cardi B commented on the situation, stating, “This is not based on any one particular incident, it has been a long time coming and is amicable.”

The couple’s relationship gained public attention when they were secretly married in Atlanta before officially announcing their engagement a month later. Cardi B rose to fame through her role on VH1’s “Love & Hip Hop: New York,” and her debut album “Invasion of Privacy” solidified her place in the music industry with hits such as “Bodak Yellow” and “I Like It,” featuring Bad Bunny and J Balvin.

In the years following her initial success, Cardi B’s profile continued to soar with additional chart-topping singles, including “Girls Like You” with Maroon 5 in 2018, “WAP” with Megan Thee Stallion in 2020, and “Up” in 2021.

The latest details of Cardi B’s legal actions were first reported by TMZ. Notably, Cardi B had previously filed for divorce from Offset in Georgia in 2020, citing an “irretrievably broken” marriage, but later withdrew the petition.
